Allison Katz was born in Montreal. She obtained her BFA from Concordia University and her MFA from Columbia University in New York, where she is now based. Recent exhibitions of her paintings include You talk greasily at Kasia Kay Gallery, Chicago, Sootboring at the Kunstlerhaus Sootbörn in Hamburg, Germany, and No Melody Harder at Thierry Goldberg Projects in New York. She is part of the dance group It’s Our Pleasure To Serve You, with Kerstin Brätsch, Adele Röder and Georgia Sagri. They have performed at the Museum of Modern Art in Vienna, and at Smith–Stewart and Evas Arche at Gavin Brown in New York. Most recently they contributed to the exhibition Goodbye to Stable Walls at the Westfaelischer Kunstverein in Muenster, Germany. She is a 2008 recipient of the Rema Hort Mann Foundation Award. Upcoming painting exhibitions include Subverted Genres at Sue Scott Gallery, New York, and a solo project at the Robert Lehman Art Center in Andover, MA.
