Battat Contemporary is pleased to present the work of esteemed Montreal artist Marion Wagschal. Wagschal’s prolific pratice is rich and complex. She broke into the Montreal art world in the 1970s with her strong, challenging, figurative painting. Since that time she has continued to create an impressive and thoughtful body of work dealing with a diverse range of subject matter, from the psychological and bodily issues of aging, gender and sex, to family histories, relationships, and environment concerns. Through this solo exhibition and accompanying publication, featuring works that span the breadth of Wagschal’s career, Battat Contemporary is delighted to share the energy and significance of Marion Wagschal’s practice.
